DRIP-CATCH NIPPLE DESIGN
Most chickens adapt immediately to using nipples, even if previously on trough waterers. Place the waterer so nipples are just above head height (the birds should stretch up slightly to drink).
Water nipples for chickens, ducks and other poultry. Side-facing with drip-catch design to reduce moisture build-up in the coop.
Heated Poultry Waterer Kit
Includes:
• Heated Poultry Waterer • Hanging Scale
• Rubber Pan — 3 gal
• Braided Cord with Slider
TIP: TRAIN CHICKENS TO NIPPLE WATERERS
Simply remove all other water sources. Hold a bird next to the bucket (placed so nipples are at or above head height—the birds should stretch slightly to drink). Direct bird’s beak to activate one of the nipples. Do this with 2–3 birds to train the flock.
You don’t have to train every bird in the flock. Just a few will do. Once the first chickens begin drinking, others will soon follow.
Hang or set on a bucket
New! Heated Poultry Waterer Kit Perfect for novice poultry keepers, the kit bundles everything you need to keep fresh
water available for your birds and off the coop floor. Includes waterer, scale, rubber pan and braided cord with slider.
TIP: TWO OPTIONS FOR REFRESHING FLOCK
1. Hang it (see top right)
Use Braided Cord and a Snap Clip (sold at right) to securely hang the waterer. Adjust height so the nipples are head high for the majority of the flock.
2. Set it on a bucket
Set the waterer on a 3.5 gal bucket (sold separately, see p. 38) or a cinder block, with nipples just above birds’ head height. Birds should stretch up slightly to drink.
Like this waterer— but no need for the heat? See p. 22
