Why use electric fencing?
Fence Solutions Use netting for...
FENCING TABLE OF
CONTENTS
Electric fencing is a reliable, cost effective way to control animal movement and practice proper pasture management.
This includes:
• Keeping the flock in
• Rotating pastures for better growth
• Keeping their predators out
• Fencing off areas, trees, rivers & roads
Containing & protecting poultry as they grow...
To stop predators we use electrifiable netting. The electric shock stops predators in their tracks, while netting’s height
and tight spacings contain birds. Clip flight feathers of one wing on birds that decide to range outside the fence. If they continue, remove them from the flock.
Electrified netting does well to stop ground based predators such as raccoons. However, poultry paddocks should be set up in narrow runs to reduce the “swoop- in” ability of aerial predators such as hawks and owls.
Netting arrives to your door as a complete roll with the line posts already built in. Just attach a fence energizer and it’s ready to keep poultry in and their predators out. Add FiberTuff Posts
(see p. 73) at ends, dips, corners and curves for added stability.
Rotational Grazing
Moving poultry between grazing paddocks (pastures or yards) every set number of days or as needed.
Pastured Poultry
Raising poultry directly on fresh grass or pasture. Birds receive grain and are able to forage.
Backyard Chickens
Often called the gateway livestock, chickens take up little room, provide meat and eggs, and put marginal land and lawns to good use.
Predator Protection
Chickens and other poultry rely on you for their safety and defense. It’s your responsibility to protect them from predators.
Garden Helpers
Chickens are omnivores, which means they eat plants, vegetables, insects and anything else that crosses their path.

Warning: In 1991 a fatality occurred when
a 2-year-old child’s head contacted an electrified fence while he was crawling on wet grass. The fence was correctly installed. The energizer was a UL approved unit. That is why Premier strongly tells users to keep young children away from all electrified fences. Due to this incident and others like it, experts worldwide now suggest that human contact by an energized wire to the head and neck are the most dangerous points of contact. Having said that, known human fatalities from electric fences (all types) are less than one per year worldwide.
