High-carbon steel provides the desired sharpness for show, veterinary & farm use

Many similar quality large blades cost roughly $50 or more. Premier’s custom-made blades are offered for much less.
3. Sharpening that works!
Our blades arrive to you factory sharp and ready to use. We also sharpen Premier and competitors’ blade sets. Our industrial lapping machine (not a grinding wheel!) removes very little steel—so a blade set can be resharpened more than 10 times.
We provide rapid turnaround and a precision finish resharpening service at a low cost per blade set. See form between pp. 34–35.
Replacement blades are not cheap!
So it is well worth the time to care for them
Remove the blades/combs/cutters from the clipper or shear.
Always clean blades/combs/cutters immediately after use by using a small brush or blowing off any excess dirt or hair. Cover them with oil to reduce the risk of rust. High carbon steel clipper blades will rust overnight. Rust destroys both the edge and the polished surface of the blades.
Store both clipper/shear and blades away from solvents, chemicals and moisture. Never leave them where they can be damaged by accidental impact.
Warning: Clipper blades/cutters/combs that have been sharpened
by inferior methods or inexperienced people may be damaged to such an extent that they can never be restored to a satisfactory cutting capability. The same is true of blades that have become too heavily pitted by rust.
Q. What can I do for best cutting results?
A. Always keep your blade sets together (upper and lower blades).
Q. How can I reduce friction?
A. Reduce friction by applying 3 to 5
drops of Premier’s oil (see p. 40) to teeth every 2 to 3 minutes.
