TROUGH FAQs
Q. Do sheep or goats upset them?
A. Rarely unless they have horns (our
goats hook the side opening and overturn them).
Q. Can animals step in them?
A. Yes, though the round, slick base
makes it uncomfortable for animals to stand in them.
Q. Do they fill up with water?
A. The base is solid. For feeders or
mineral feeders we drill a hole for drainage. Skip the hole for waterers.
We stack up to 10 for easy transport on an ATV (80–120 lbs).
A convenient side hole makes them easy to carry and move.
MULTI-SPECIES
FOR ALL SEASONS
Q. Do PortaTroughs freeze down into mud? A. Yes. But a quick jar on the side with
the heel of a boot usually frees them.
Q. Are they unbreakable?
A. They don’t break easily, but like most
things they are breakable. We’ve proven that driving over them with tractors will break them—though ATVs rarely do. Cattle and horses do them no good. They are sheep, goat and waterfowl resistant.
Use in the pasture with pigs, sheep, goats, waterfowl and dogs, in a pen with show animals or in the barn.
Spring, summer, fall and winter! So durable, they can be used anytime!
Q. What happens when ice forms in the PortaTroughs?
A. The rounded inner trough allows ice to expand upward as it freezes. To remove ice—lift trough, tip over and tap on the bottom with your foot.
