Page Background TOP PICK PortaTroughs …for all seasons! Key Benefits • Strong, tough and durable. • Economical. • Difficult for sheep or goats to tip over. • Stack inside each other for easy movement and storage—up to 10 PortaTroughs per stack. • Easy to stack and carry on ATVs or farm vehicles. • Side hole allows trough to be inverted with a hand or toe to tip out water/ice. • Rounded inner base—won’t break if ice forms in it. • Deliverable by UPS, etc. FAQs Do sheep or goats upset them? Rarely unless they have horns (our goats hook the side opening and upset them). Can animals step in them? The inner base is round and slick so sheep and goats dislike stepping in them unless forced by others to do so. Do they fill up with water? Yes, unless you drill a hole in the bottom. After a rain they must be emptied before use. The side hole allows a trough to be easily overturned by toe or hand. What happens when ice forms in the troughs? The rounded inner trough allows ice to expand upward as it freezes. To remove, use the built-in handhold to lift, tip them over and tap them on the bottom with your foot. Do PortaTroughs freeze down into mud? Yes. But a quick jar on the side with the heel of a boot usually frees them. Are they unbreakable? They don’t break easily but like most things they are breakable (unfortunately). We’ve proven that driving over them with tractors will break them— though ATVs rarely do. Cattle and horses do them “no good.” And age eventually makes most things, including PortaTroughs, less resilient to impact.
