How reels differ…
•
Field capacity. The length of
conductor a hand-wound reel can
hold (see chart below right).
•
Wind-up speed. Determined by
internal diameter of the reel and
whether or not they are geared.
Larger diameter = faster speed.
Geared = much faster.
•
How they’re supported. EcoReels
are supported via a neck strap.
SupaReels and geared reels are
supported by one hand.
•
Cost per reel.
Premier’s reels vs others
If you want the strongest and most
durable non-geared reel available,
Premier’s SupaReel is the winner. It’s
not cheap but well worth the cost.
We use the SupaReel for 3 and 4-reel
fence systems because of its braking
system. Non-braked reels are best for
1 or 2-strand systems.
Reel vs field capacity
There is a difference between
machine-wound capacity and field
capacity (wound by hand).
Field capacity can be half that of
much tighter machine capacity (see
chart to right).
When others indicate a reel’s
capacity, ask which they mean.
