Foot Care Products Zinc Sulfate
We rely on it in a foot bath for mass treating and preventing foot rot and/or foot scald. But it takes longer exposure time (10 minutes) than other options.
For individual treatments, we mix as a topical spray in a concentrated form. Allows for precision application.
Formaldehyde
Kills bacteria rapidly. Feet need a bath rather than a long soak. Can make hooves brittle. Poses serious health risks to human and animal skin. But it is the most effective method. We reserve this for flock-wide outbreaks of foot rot.
Copper Sulfate
Effective and quick. However, it corrodes metal gates. Thus we use it only for topical treatments.

ZINC SULFATE
Premier FootCareTM Concentrated liquid zinc
sulfate for prevention and treatment of foot rot and foot scald in sheep and goats.
Topical spray or pour-on: mix 1 part with 3 parts water. Foot bath: 1 qt per 50 gal.
Change mixture every 300 head (more often if the animals’ feet are filthy).

Zinc based foot bath concentrate with Stabitrol— an aid for rapid zinc absorption. For treatment
of foot rot and foot scald. Contains a blue dye that colors the animals’ hooves/ hair. Makes untreated animals easy to spot. Mix 8 oz to 31.25 gal water for use in foot baths (one gal mixes into 500 gal
of water). Active ingredients are 13% Zinc Sulfate and 5% Stabitrol. Change every 300 head. Follow same precautions as Premier FootCare (left).
