38 POULTRY FENCES

Why a
NoShock Fence?Because chicks and ducklings are too
small to be contained by PoultryNet.
They slip through the 2" x 3" openings
at the bottom of it. And chicks and other
small birds are not heavy enough for
electric netting to work reliably even if
the holes were smaller.
NoShock
fence will contain chicks,
ducklings and other nonflying birds of
all sizes. Also keeps birds out of flowers,
gardens, patios and roadways.
Line posts for
NoShock…
Use a NetPost 15 every 5 ft for line

Use FiberTuff Posts at 90º corners and
curves to support NoShock. (See p. 123.)
NetPosts (shown in photo and sold below right) can be woven through the NoShock mesh every 5 ft to make
a temporary nonelectrified fence. Use FiberTuff Posts at corners.

Temporary For short-term pens. You can use FiberTuff posts at corners and NetPost 15 as support posts—but steel T posts are better corner posts for this fence (albeit more work). Temporary NoShock day-pen. Easy-to- move and collapsible wood frame supports fence. Design and build at home. Bring birds out for the day and put back in coop at night. Semi-Permanent Same as the temporary pen, but with the addition of electrified 18" RaccoonNet (see pp. 42–43) or 42"– 48" PoultryNet around the outside to stop predators. Permanent Can be stapled or zip-tied to permanent wood or metal posts.NoShock

Note:
Some adult birds have a tendency to fly. Clip the flight feathers on one wing to prevent
them from flying up and over fences.
