Tip: The post of electrified netting should not
touch concrete, a building or a wood or steel
post. Install the post at least 1" to 3" away.
Why we suggest installing
PermaNet with 2 people…
Its extra width/height and the
larger, heavier line posts are notably
more cumbersome to handle than
ordinary netting.
That makes it more difficult to
install and explains why this is a
semi-permanent fence.
It can be handled, installed and
removed by one person (I’ve often
done it—but I’m over 6 ft and 200 lbs),
but having a person on each end of
the posts doubles the productivity
and makes it easier for both.
Pushing or stepping posts into the
soil is still a one-person task. This
takes more effort and time because
the spikes are both larger and longer.
(After all, it doesn’t work to have a
strong, well-supported post without
large and long spikes.)
Pulling the posts out of the soil is
also a one-person task.
Weed issues
Weeds must be controlled for
PermaNet to remain effective.
Either move and mow as needed
during the growing season or spray
herbicide along the bottom strand of
the net. If you can’t or won’t do this,
PermaNet will disappoint.
To purchase
1. Measure the fence line.
2. Choose the length and the amount of
netting needed. Example: A 170 ft fence
requires one 100 ft net, one 50 ft net and
one 25 ft net. However, it costs less to
order two 100 ft nets instead!
3. Choose either:
a. Netting Only—Does not include
accessories (at right).
b. Net Only and Energizer Kit—Order
net only and energizer kit (at right).
4. Choose support posts—
As needed for ends, curves and corners.
We use steel posts (p. 127) with tie
strings, 48" FiberTuff support posts
(p. 123) or 6 ft long 11/16" dia FiberRods
(p. 126).
