POULTRY FENCES 35

(above) Geese are helpful in orchards

to control grass and weeds. Use netting

to protect the geese from predators and to

section off areas for grazing. (No, the trees in

photo are not touching the net.)

(inset at right) For backyard fences that will be

moved infrequently, we suggest PermaNet 12/48/3.

PermaNet ® Plus 12/48/3 (Double Spike) Our original PermaNet Plus 12/48/3. Has strong, 19mm thick posts spaced 6.8 ft apart instead of 10 ft. Unlikely to sag. Enables it to adapt readily to curves, dips and rises. Offered because many feel, as we do, that normal poultry net posts are often too supple and spaced too far apart. More posts = more $$/ft and more weight per unit of length. That’s why the longest length is only 100 ft. Now available in green/black mesh. Why? Because it blends into the background and is therefore aesthetically pleasing to some. However, the lower visibility concern us. 100' x 48" (DS) white/black, 32 lb.......................................#207100 $193.00 100' x 48" (DS) green/black, 32 lb.......................................#207120 $193.00 50' x 48" (DS) white/black, 17 lb..........................................#207105 $159.00 50' x 48" (DS) green/black, 17 lb......................................... #207121 $159.00 25' x 48" (DS) white/black, 10 lb..........................................#207106 $90.00 25' x 48" (DS) green/black, 10 lb.........................................#207122 $90.00

Why we suggest installing

PermaNet with 2 people…

Its extra width/height and the

larger, heavier line posts are notably

more cumbersome to handle than

ordinary netting.

That makes it more difficult to

install and explains why this is a

semi-permanent fence.

It can be handled, installed and

removed by one person (I’ve often

done it—but I’m over 6 ft and 200 lbs),

but having a person on each end of

the posts doubles the productivity

and makes it easier for both.

Pushing or stepping posts into the

soil is still a one-person task. This

takes more effort and time because

the spikes are both larger and longer.

(After all, it doesn’t work to have a

strong, well-supported post without

large and long spikes.)

Pulling the posts out of the soil is

also a one-person task.

Energizer Kits (right) We provide a wide range of solar, plug-in and battery energizer kits (pp. 81–93). Support Posts Use our support posts as needed for ends, curves and corners (pp. 127–133).
