Multistrand Fences designs & uses
Gardens – Up to 2 strands of rope or tape
Without question, multistrand fences (for which you install
the end, corner, curve and line posts and then string conductive
rope, twine or tape onto line posts) are the least expensive fence
designs per ft.
The trade-off compared to netting? It takes more time to install
or remove multistrand fences. Also, they are less effective than
netting at stopping many species of livestock and wildlife.
Cost: as low as 14¢ per ft

Anti-Deer – Up to 5 strands of rope
2-Strand—for sites with minimal deer pressure.
5-Strand—stops deer if pressure is low to moderate.
Points to consider
• Deer are more likely to go under or over this fence, compared
to netting or 3D fences (p. 44).
• Easy to keep free of vegetation.
• Scent caps need to be refreshed often.
Cost: 2-Strand—as low as 31¢ per ft
5-Strand—as low as 68¢ per ft
