Page Background MiniReel Economical way to wind, unwind and store short lengths of a conductor. Popular for folks with a few horses (see p. 66) or cattle. Made of polycarbonate plastic—lightweight but so resilient that breakage is rare. Slot in the black handle allows reel to be hung from a fence wire. A plastic screw-lock ensures that it unwinds only when you wish it to do so. MiniReel, 0.60 lb................................................#237600 $12.00

Don’t do this…

Tangles and wasted $$

result when you try to “save”

$$ by not buying a reel. (Folks

who’ve never used a reel

understandably think portable

fences are overrated.)

Wind-up Systems

and Accessories

How reels differ…

• Field capacity.

The length of twine, tape or

rope that a reel can hold

(see chart below left)

.

• Wind-up speed.

Largely determined by the

internal diameter of the reel.

• How they’re supported

. Some via a neck

strap (EzeReels)—allowing both hands free

to wind or attach/detach strands from posts.

Others are supported by one hand (SupaReel,

MiniReel) and wound with the other hand.

• Impact resistance.

The improved EzeReels can

withstand impact better than the SupaReel

and MiniReel.

• Cost per reel and per ft of conductor stored.

Reel capacity vs field capacity

There is a difference between machine-wound

capacity and field capacity (wound by hand, see

chart at left). Field capacity can be half that of

machine capacity. When others indicate a reel’s

capacity, ask which they mean.

Premier’s reels vs other reels

If you want the strongest and most durable reel

available, Premier’s SupaReel is the winner. But,

at $52 complete, it’s not cheap. Because it also

has a braking system, we use it for 3- and 4-reel

systems. Reels without brakes are suitable only for

1- or 2-strand systems.

• Saves time

• Reduces aggravation

• Extends conductor life

• Enables better grass and

animal management

An EzeReel XL is supported by

a neck strap and metal frame.

One hand is free to carry posts, to

release wires from posts or to flatten

tape as it is wound onto a reel.

To wind, insert thumb and fingers into black handle as shown. Grasp the yellow handle and turn the reel. IntelliBraid
