When I returned to Iowa in 1977 the fences on the home farm were “weary.” Modern permanent and temporary fences similar to those I had used in England were an obvious solution. But the quality of fence components in US stores at that time was far behind that available to farmers overseas. So we imported material to solve our personal needs. Word spread. Soon we were supplying products nationwide. Premier was on its way to becoming the expanding supply firm that it is today. Our core principles… • The Golden Rule—treat customers as we would wish to be treated. • Instead of sales tactics, simply describe a product’s abilities candidly. All items have strengths and weaknesses. State both without apology. • Specify how and when products should and should not be used. • Be cautious about products until they’ve been field-tested. Manufacturers usually overstate a product’s benefits. • Situations vary. Be willing to customize products and systems to best match users’ needs. • Never stop improving our products and our service. Has this approach worked?
