24 SHEEP AND GOAT FENCES

www.premier1supplies.com • 1-800-282-6631

Multi-Strand Fences

with Reels

Semi-Permanent

Description

Consists of up to 4 strands of

IntelliBraid 3.0 or IntelliTwine

conductors suspended under low

tension (approx. 25 lb) between

posts spaced up to 35 ft apart. The

conductors are stored, unwound and

then rewound onto large reels such

as SupaReels

or EzeReels

.

SupaReels have a built-in friction

brake that enables multiple reels to

be unrolled all at once by walking

away from the end post assembly

while pulling on all strands at the

same time. EzeReels, by contrast,

don’t have a brake—they must be

unwound by carrying the reel.

For end and corner posts, most use

steel T posts, small wood posts or

large FiberRods.

A 3-strand fence supported by Premier’s white PigTail

step-in posts with extra clips attached.

We have found this post design to be superior to most

plastic step-in posts. They don’t break—but they do bend.

(We’re keen to try out our FiberTuff Posts for this work.)

Conductor is IntelliTwine.

Note: The 3-strand fence in the diagram below is

attached to an existing electrified permanent fence with

3 conductor hooks and PowerLinks.

Uses

• Subdividing large pastures to control

grazing and reduce trampling.

• Strip-grazing rape, turnips, corn stubble.

• Short-term boundary fences on rented

land for pretrained sheep or goats.

• Containing feeder lambs on alfalfa and

rye grass fields (e.g. California’s Imperial

Valley, Oregon’s Willamette Valley).

• Containing dry does/ewes when food,

sexual libido and newly weaned kids/

lambs are not an issue.

Cost: as low as 18¢ per ft

Cost varies because the same reel

assembly and energizer is needed whether

the fence is short (400 ft) or long (1200 ft).

The 3 strands by themselves cost as little

as 9¢ per ft. Posts cost 5¢ per ft.

Reels last for decades.

Twine may survive 5 years.

Line posts (FiberRods, TuffPosts, etc) may

last 10 years.
