What is it? Automatically mixes milk replacer with warm water and dispenses to lambs/kids. Premier has used this milk feeding machine on our farm with over 100 lambs. We love this unit. You will too, if you have a large group of orphans. Unit is much less work to feed/clean. Lambs drink better and grow faster. How does it work? Unit attaches to a hose for continuous water access (can be used with a pump) . Milk replacer is stored in a hopper. above a mixing chamber. A sensor indicates when to draw down replacer and mix it with water. Mixture flows partway through tubes via gravity. Sucking by lamb/kids pumps the milk to the nipples. Who needs it? Folks raising many orphan lambs/ kids—and spending too much time keeping them supplied with milk. This unit saves us 60 minutes each day (much less hand-mixing and cleaning). Points to note • Nipples must be set at least 1" above the level of milk in mixing bowl. • If mixed milk has cooled, lambs won’t be eager to consume cold milk. Not a problem unless only 1-2 kids/lambs. • Spoilage can occur in warm weather. • Warm temperatures may cause milk to froth, which covers the sensor. This delays the mixing of a fresh batch. • Must be kept from freezing. Some build an insulated box and install a heat lamp. • Requires a 20-amp breaker.
