Latex & Rubber Teats

Latex (red or natural)

teats are easier for small lambs and kids

than rubber teats but they are less durable. So they’re the best

choice only until days 8-10.

Rubber teats

are the better option for lambs and kids over 10

days of age—who become aggressive when drinking. Those

with sharp teeth may chew through latex teats.

Inside view of the bucket—

make sure

the valve is oriented downward and at

a slight angle. If your bucket is leaking,

you may need to use 2 washers.

1. Thread the nut onto the unit.

2. Hold the valve securely while

tightening nut with wrench.

Step 1: Choose bucket size 2 gallon and 4 gallon Square Buckets We prefer the 4 gallon —it’s better for large orphan groups. Also better for summer use because it has space for large ice containers to keep the milk cold, reducing risk of spoilage. 2 gallon —small, adaptable, easy to hang. Best for small orphan groups and winter-feeding a few lambs. Not large enough to hold ice containers ( see p. 98 ). The EzeLid (sold separately at left) will fit all square Premier buckets. Buckets (predrilled for teat units) We will predrill any of our square buckets with 1.5" dia holes (the size for our bucket teat units). Specify bucket size, location and number of holes. 2 gallon bucket (with predrilled holes), 0.85 lb....................... #564805 $8.50 4 gallon bucket (with predrilled holes), 2 lb............................#564804 $11.00 Buckets (without predrilled holes) If you drill your own holes, the hole should be 1.5" dia, 0.5" up from inside bottom. 2 gallon bucket (without predrilled holes), 0.85 lb................. #564801 $5.50 4 gallon bucket (without predrilled holes), 2 lb.......................#564800 $8.00 Buckets—without predrilled holes. Buckets—predrilled (1.5" holes) for up to 6 teat units on 3 sides.

Step 2:

Select teat types

Use latex (red or natural) for first 10

days. Red rubber after 10 days.

Teats wear

out—it’s best to have a few extra on hand.

Step 3: How many teat units? A square bucket can hold up to 6 teat units if hung on the side of a pen, and 8 units will fit if it is secured in the middle of the pen. Step 4: Order a wrench Why? If you’ve tried to loosen the plastic nut after use, you’ll know that it’s more difficult to loosen than to tighten. So this is an essential tool. 6.25" long 1.5" dia holes
