This is a sheep and goat supplement that we know works. We had a fly-struck ewe with a “death wish” that stumbled into one of our ponds (twice) and then refused to eat. Nutri-Drench revived both her appetite and strength. 8 oz with pump, 0.70 lb............... #620200 $13.00 16 oz refill, 1.30 lb........................#620300 $20.50 1 gal, 9.60 lb.................................#620400 $84.00 Colostrum Replacement To replace or supplement maternal colostrum for lambs and kids. Pritchard Teat on our Feeding
Bottle
(p. 100)
for first 18 hours, then
change to warm milk replacer.
• After one day
switch to latex
nipples in bucket teat units
(p. 99)
.
As soon as lambs learn to nurse
readily, switch to cold milk. Offer it
ad lib.
• Day 5,
offer dry creep feed in a
feeder.
Placing a light (a 175-watt
heat bulb is enough) over the dry
feed encourages lambs to stay near
the feeder and eat feed.
• After 8-10 days,
switch from latex
to rubber teats.
Why?
Because older
lambs may have sharp teeth (which
could be the reason a ewe rejected
them) that can rapidly damage the
softer latex teats.
• By the 5th week,
the lambs’
consumption per day will surprise
you—as will the cost of the milk
replacer! Begin diluting the milk
with more water and weaning them.
• By the 6th week,
wean by offering
only water and dry feed. Tough love
saves $$.
