When to use the Premier 4000c Clipper

Sheep

Club/wether lambs and some breeding

sheep are slick shorn with clipper blades

on a clipper head to accentuate their

muscling for shows

(in use above left)

.

This was originally done with a shear

head until it was discovered that:

1. Premier’s clipper blades would cut

through clean wool.

2. Clipper blades cut closer, gave a

smoother finish, rarely cut the animal

and required less user experience.

Meat and Dairy Goats

Many show goats are clipped once a

month or more. So a clipper that’s quick,

easy to use, won’t nick skin and leaves a

smooth finish is important.

Beef and Dairy Cattle

For peeling—

rapid removal of body

hair prior to a sale.

For shaving—

refers to removing hair

from the head, brisket, tail or udder.

Llamas and Alpacas

Clippers leave a smoother finish than

a shear head. Many use them to prepare

llamas/alpacas for shows and sales.

Show Pigs

Clipping makes a pig’s muscles more

expressive to the judge’s eye and gives

the pig a “fresh look.” Follow local show

rules for minimum hair length.

Ranch Dogs

Clipping long-haired herding and

guard dogs significantly improves their

summer health and performance.

Horses

For body clipping horses, it’s faster to

use the 4000c. However, the Saphir

(see

p. 27)

is ideal for hard-to-reach sites (legs)

and sensitive areas (head).
