Gambrel Restrainer
Simple, clever tool that immobilizes adult
sheep and goats by holding their neck and
front legs alongside each other
(shown above)
.
A Gambrel is easy to carry by hand, waist
belt, ATV, motorbike or horse. Does not
harm animals. Made of nearly indestructible
polycarbonate. Over 30 years we’ve only
heard of several breaking.
Gambrel Restrainer, 0.30 lb............#811000 $18.00
Restraint Cuffs
For use when you need an
extra pair of hands. Secures
3 legs—so an animal can
neither stand nor walk
when the cuff is in place.
• Small (1"x 5" inside)—
For small-framed
mature animals, lambs and goat kids. Smaller
both in length and width than the large size.
• Large (1.2"x 5.2" inside)—
For large-framed
and/or heavy-boned adult sheep/goats.
Restraint Cuff, small, 24 mm, 0.30 lb...............#811030 $9.50
Restraint Cuff, large, 29 mm, 0.40 lb................#811032 $10.00
2. Bring one rear leg forward and
place in between the 2 front
legs. Snap the spring-loaded
link shut to enclose the 3 legs.
How To Use a Gambrel:
1. Place the gambrel over the animal’s neck.
2. Slide legs into footholds, one on each side.
3. Guide string under neck and secure. What’s the
string for? Extra security when you need to restrain
an animal for longer periods. Also handy for
attaching it to an ATV
(the Gambrel, not the animal)!
1. Put one front leg into one side
of the cuff and slide the second
front leg into the other side.
Why use restraints?
• To restrain adult goats and sheep when
you need to assist the animal or leave it
alone to go for supplies.
• For transporting individual animals in or
on ATVs and trailers.
• It’s nearly as useful as a second person
when the right situation exists—and less
expensive—but also less interesting.
A word of caution:
Animals are used to
freedom, not restraint. Even the most docile
ewe or doe can turn into a kicking machine
when caught. Be careful!
We’ve yet to find an easier restraint to use. Small Large Animals may try to “walk” when restrained by a gambrel. When they do this, lay the animal on the ground and wait for them to become calm.84
