What’s the difference?

The posts!

PermaNet has thicker posts

with longer ground spikes. They resist side

strain, wind, rain, ice and snow better than

PoultryNet. This net can be left in place for

a long period of time.

PoultryNet has thinner posts and shorter

spikes. So it is lighter and easier to move.

It’s the preferred net if it will be moved

often (e.g. rotational grazing).

What’s the same?

The mesh portion—both nets use string

verticals to support the conductors

(see

photo at right).

Durability is the same, often

more than 10 years in use.

Remember…

You will need to move and mow, spray or

use a larger energizer to overcome green

grass contact.

(above) Both nets use string verticals to support the

conductors. Sagging between posts may occur. Either

use additional hand tension, purchase Plus nets (they

have more posts) or add extra posts yourself.

8" long 7" long .31" dia (SS) (DS) 6" long .26" dia 6" long (SS) (DS) Spikes • Single Spike (SS) Unless your soil is soft (always), this is the best choice. • Double Spike (DS) Allows spike to be pushed in with your foot— if soil is soft. When the soil is hard, double spikes are much harder to either remove or get into the soil. Spikes The comments made at left re single vs double spikes apply here also. However note that PermaNet spikes are: 1. Longer 2. 20% larger in dia. So they provide more support—but are a bit harder to install and remove. Posts 15 mm diameter. 18% larger in diameter than earlier posts and 18% larger than the posts in non- Premier nets. So they’re able to support the weight and side-strain with less flexing. Standard metal ground spike(s). Posts 19 mm diameter and reinforced with fiberglass. Much larger, stronger, heavier and stiffer than any 15 mm PoultryNet posts. More work to install and remove— but able to resist wind, rain, ice and snow better. A. PoultryNet B. PermaNet

Post Side-Strain Comparisons

Post deflection measures a post’s

ability to withstand side strain.

This graphic shows the difference

between 15 mm (A) and 19 mm (B)

posts with 2 lbs of side strain.
