An alternative method to

tension a rope—the rope can be

attached directly to our P Spring.

IntelliRopes—how they compare:

PE 4.5 vs PE 6.0

The only difference is that 4.5 is smaller

(4.5 mm diameter vs 6 mm). Why? Because

it has fewer plastic filaments.

However, the metal filaments, their

conductivity and the type of plastic (virgin,

UV resistant polyethylene—from which we

obtain the abbreviation PE) are the same

material in each.

That means:

• PE 4.5 is easier to roll up and unroll.

• PE 4.5 is less expensive.

• PE 4.5 is less visible.

Beware of low-quality rope!

The recent success of electrifiable rope

for horses has attracted bottom-feeding

suppliers for whom profit is everything and

product quality is of minimal concern.

The best PE rope is made of virgin resin

and contains enough UV additive to ensure

that it will usually last 10 years. Sadly, the

human eye cannot spot this difference.

Don’t leave T Posts tops unprotected!

Steel T posts are strong and reliable.

But their sharp steel tops can cause

permanent, disfiguring injuries to horses.

Therefore, it’s always wise to put a

plastic top over them.

(See pp. 130–131 and

135 for our T post Hot Tops and Safety Caps.)

Don’t mix Hi-Tensile smooth

wire fences and horses!

HT smooth wire can cause expensive

injuries. The leg injury on this horse

(our own!) came from a wire fence that

was not protected by an offset hot rope.

used to support an upper rope and also to protect horses from injury from the sharp steel post top.

Customer Review…

On the recommendation of a friend, I selected

IntelliRope PE 6.0 for my fencing. I am so glad I did. The

value and quality are outstanding! The rope was easy to

work with and my entire perimeter fence was installed

with the help of friends. I love the clean look and the

horses have no problems seeing the fence. I have a 4 strand

perimeter fence and some 3-strand semi-permanent cross

fencing. I highly recommend this product!
